The stitches are self dissolving and dissolve after 4-6 weeks. If you want, you can have them removed after 14-21 days by your local dentist.
Most of our patients are transferred to us by biological therapists, who can then resume the subsequent treatment. With our intervention, all metals are safely removed and are replaced with neutral materials, and all root-treated teeth, foreign bodies, root remnants and degenerative inflammatory areas (ischaemic osteonecrosis, NICO) are removed. It goes without saying that in the weeks and months following the operation the immune system should be strengthened, the healing mechanisms stimulated, bone generation materials produced, and poisons and toxins expelled. Your attending biological therapist will usually have protocols to help with this. A proposed example of this post-operative treatment and care can be found on the last pages of the booklet.
You will experience an improvement in your symptoms after approx. one to two weeks. However, each person reacts differently to an operation.
With more minor operations such as the removal of Ischemic Osteonecrosis (NICO) in all four regions of the wisdom teeth, you can return home two days after the operation. With more major operations involving extractions and multiple implants, you will need to spend three days as an outpatient at our clinic and will be able to return home four days after the operation. With procedures involving the construction of bone in the maxillary sinus, you must not fly for around two weeks. As a general rule, you should also avoid intensive sporting activities, intense sunlight and saunas for two weeks.
Generally, no, unless you experience swelling or excessive secondary bleeding.
Take a freshly washed cotton cloth (do not use tissues!), tie a knot in it, and press it onto your wound for 20 minutes (pressure bandage). If the bleeding does not stop, please contact us or an emergency dentist if you are unable to reach us. Slightly bloody saliva does not present a severe bleeding but can be treated equally. Please avoid any rinsing in the mouth as it provokes the bleeding again.
Take painkillers (Ibuprofen 600mg, 1-2 tablets every six to eight hours, up to a maximum of 4 tablets in 24 hours). If the pain does not subside, please contact us or an emergency dentist if you are unable to reach us.
Due to the special treatment concept and the comprehensive pre-operative and post-operative care at medident bavaria, complications almost never occur. However, if complications do occur, you can find a complications protocol on the penultimate page of the booklet, which will inform your dentist of the appropriate solution in the event of any given complication. On request, we can also provide the details of biological dental practitioners almost anywhere in the world who have attended training sessions at medident bavaria. If complications occur, however, they will generally tend to occur on the second or third day after the operation, meaning that we can handle them at our clinic.
After a surgical operation, you can start exercising again after a week if you are not experiencing any complaints. After a sinus lift, you will need to wait 10-14 days before you can participate in any exercise. You must not use a sauna until 14 days after the operation.
Implants have a healing process that requires at least three to six months. You will be informed on a per-case basis after your operation.
You can start eating again as soon as the anesthetic has worn off. However, do not eat any hard foods, as the cement requires 24 hours to harden completely.
Long-term provisionals that have been placed on immediate implants must not be loaded for at least 6 weeks.
Directly after the operation, it is most effective if you cool for the subsequent three to four hours. On the next day, you can continue to cool during your infusion. If necessary, it is also possible to use the Hilotherm cooling mask for a longer period.
We recommend that you do not rinse your mouth for five days after your operation, and after that only with water.
It will certainly be the most comfortable for you to sleep on your back. This will mean that there is no pressure on the side of your face. Please also use a second pillow so that your head is located at a higher position than your heart.
Do not take the first three days to walk and be physically stressed. You should relax. You may listen to music, read books, and meditate. You should not read or watch any news or do yoga.
Please speak as little as possible so that the wound is not irritated.
The operation relieves the body of stress, which results in you feeling better on the first day after it takes place. You feel worse on the subsequent days because your body requires energy for the healing process and is starting to detoxify. The more disciplined you are and the more you follow our protocol, the better you will be.
Please have someone accompany you. The anesthesia may affect your ability to drive. We recommend that you stay in a hotel for the period of your operation. You should rest fully and avoid any stress or exertion.
This is up to the individual and depends on your specific condition and the severity of the intervention. If you are likely to become very weak and if the intervention is expected to last for a very long time, we would always recommend that you ask someone to accompany and support you. You will not usually feel unwell after the operation. In fact, our patients usually tend to have more energy after the operation and have to be persuaded to relax. Thanks to our pre-treatment and follow-up treatment as well as the surgical methods that we use, you will usually not have any externally visible swelling even after very major interventions and will not have any severe pain.
