Silent Jaw infection and interference fields
“Are you actually a regular dental practice?”
A question we are asked more and more frequently by patients from Tittling and the Passau area, and we are happy to answer: Yes and no! Biological dentistry goes far beyond the spectrum of classic dental practices in the way it looks at and treats people. A good example of this, can be found on this page on the subject of jaw foci and interfering factors*. They can be an unnoticed trigger of massive chronic complaints – a risk to the health and quality of life of many of our patients.
Pathologically altered tissue disrupts the natural processes of the organism, nerve cells and metabolism. In many cases, these processes go unnoticed, but with noticeable consequences for patients:
- Concentration disorders and inner restlessness
- Lack of drive and depressive mood
- Joint pain, back pain and facial pain
- Headache and migraine
- Rheumatism and pain in the limbs
- Sleep disorders
- Increased occurrence of skin irritations, allergies and intolerances
- Infections due to a weakened immune system

We know possible dangers of dead teeth*
What actually happens during root canal treatment (endodontics)? An inflamed nerve – the lifeline of the tooth – is removed from a painful tooth. Instead of a living organ with a blood and nerve supply, a dead pillar remains in the mouth – and with it germs and bacteria with their toxic waste products.
In biological dentistry, we view dead, root-treated teeth very critically because they have massive effects on the immune system. Scientific studies show that a completely bacteria-proof root is unrealistic and dead tissue always remains in the root-treated teeth.
A toxic transport with consequences*: From the mouth into the entire organism
Bacteria break down the remaining tissue in dead teeth. This process produces highly toxic compounds that can inhibit the active site of many vital enzymes and provoke immunological reactions. Bacteria and especially their toxins are released into the lymphatic system of the surrounding tissues with each chewing. From there, they enter the bloodstream throughout the body.

One of the most common interference fields in the jawbone is chronic maxillary osteitis*. Here we are dealing with pathologically altered parts of the bone, triggered by inflammation. Instead of a stable bone framework, thin structures and cavities develop in which germs and bacteria accumulate.
Since neuralgic or neurological complaints are often caused by these areas, they are also referred to as “neuralgia inducing cavitational osteonecrosis”.
“Neuralgia Inducing Cavitational Osteonecrosis”
or short
“NICO”
!
The characteristics of these interference fields include:
- a chronically inflamed bone
- a soft bone structure, often filled with cystic tissue and inflammatory tissue
- elevated values in the range of specific inflammatory markers as well as heavy metal accumulation
- increased occurrence of viruses, bacteria and fungi
- mostly local painlessness of these areas

Here is the comparison between a healthy jaw bone and a bone with a NICO
Chronic inflammation in the jawbone usually results from old wounds that have not healed optimally after tooth extraction. Nutrient deficiencies (especially lack of vitamin D, zinc, magnesium and omega 3 fatty acids) and malnutrition (sugar, wheat and cow’s milk products) prevent optimal wound healing and healthy bone formation.
Instead of healthy tissue, only a shell of a thin layer of bone develops in this area. Inside these areas, however, the bone does not heal completely, but forms a reservoir for
- Bacteria
- Mushrooms
- Viruses
- Heavy metals
- Toxins
- Borrelia
In turn, exposure to the above factors can trigger chronic inflammation (silent inflammation)*.

Cavities and chronically inflamed bone areas of chronic maxillary osteitis are usually difficult to find in general dental practice. These inflammations are hardly visible in conventional X-rays. In addition to a number of special test procedures, three-dimensional imaging using DVT (digital volume tomography) provides the most accurate means of diagnosis.
This is how we get on the track of NICO
In the three-dimensional X-ray image, we can easily and reliably recognize the chronic jaw inflammations as cavities or areas of inferior ossification in individual jaw sections or around root-treated teeth. In addition to a reliable diagnosis of the inflamed areas, the three-dimensional image also helps in planning subsequent therapy, as the extent of the inflammation can be clearly determined in advance.
This is how interference fields are eliminated
The therapy is divided into three important areas in order to achieve a safe, biological healing of the chronically inflamed areas of the jaw*:
- Pre-treatment with the Bone Healing Protocol according to Dr. Alexander Neubauer
- Surgical therapy: In this procedure, the areas with inflammatory changes are gently and completely cleaned. The most minimally invasive approach possible is important here, as is the use of ultrasound-guided surgical instruments.
- After disinfection with ozone, filling the defect with the so-called PRF membrane according to Prof. Choukroun has proven successful in practice. This is an endogenous membrane that can be produced directly from the patient’s blood by centrifugation.
- Continue supplementation and ensure optimal nutrient supply, including infusions if necessary.
Find and eliminate interference fields
In the case of unexplained pain and discomfort or the suspicion of chronic inflammation, we specifically get to the bottom of the causes. Hidden inflammations in the jaw, in particular, are almost impossible to detect on conventional X-rays. With the 3D images of a DVT and a special neural therapy, we detect interference fields and eliminate them surgically: safe – gentle – sustainable!
